Photography allows me to share my own vision of the world and impart on you an emotional experience of your own, something I call: ‘Extrospective Photography‘.
To me, extrospective photography is the science, art, and practice of creating durable images by recording light electronically (digital) or chemically (film) of objects and events external to the photographer’s own mind, though influenced by the photographer's own conscious, self-reflection, and their unique way of experiencing the world around them.
The Photographer: Robert Schall
Robert grew up with a father who was enamored with film photography. His early childhood memories included moments of watching his father muttering to himself in his little dark room as he developed pictures. It must have left a lasting impression. Though in subsequent years, time for photography was scarce, his father got too busy to continue his hobby, and Robert, like so many kids, started to dream of becoming an astronaut, a pilot, or something else equally fanciful.
Fast forward many years, and suddenly Robert found himself working for one of the largest camera manufacturers in the world. Right at his fingertips lay a vast, endless wealth of know-how and a myriad of talented photographers willing to share their knowledge with him.
Over those years, Robert delved into the art of photography, learning from these talented professionals, many of whom he now has the fortune of calling his friends. Then, over 10 years ago, clutching his courage, he took the leap and turned his passion into his profession. Leaving behind the world of corporate marketing, he ventured out as a freelance professional photographer. And never looked back!
